Julia Hung (b. 1986, Taipei) creates installations and sculptures that explore transformation through material, perception, and impermanence. Using techniques historically associated with domestic labor—such as cooking, ironing, and textile-based processes—she reconfigures overlooked materials, including discarded plastics, ordinary objects, and daily gestures, into biomorphic, fluid forms. Her practice examines how systems of value, cultural meaning, and perception are continuously constructed, dissolved, and reshaped through shifting states between presence and absence, permanence and ephemerality.

Hung holds a BDes from OCAD University (2012) and an MFA from HEAD – Genève (2016). She was awarded the Asian Cultural Council New York Fellowship (2024) and was a finalist for the New Heads – Fondation BNP Paribas Art Award (2017) and the Taoyuan Fine Arts Exhibition (2023). Her work is held in public and private collections including the King Car Cultural & Educational Foundation, t.Hub Taipei, and Hotel Indigo Alishan.
